Ocean Animal Word List Spelling (optional letter tiles and pencil/marker)
 

Promote memory recall, letter recognition, and fine motor coordination using ocean animal pictures, names, and letter tiles

1. Set the Scene
   • Gently introduce the theme: “We’re visiting the ocean today—look at these sea creatures! Let’s spell their names together.”
   • Keep the environment calm and cheerful. Ocean sounds, a blue table mat, or seashell decorations enhance engagement.
2. Present One Animal at a Time
   • Show a picture card (e.g., a jellyfish) alongside the printed word “JELLYFISH.”
   • Read the word aloud and trace it with your finger: “This says jellyfish. Can you say it with me?”
3. Tile Letter Matching
   • Offer a shallow tray or board and a set of tile letters (large, lightweight tiles recommended for ease of grasp).
   • Ask: “Let’s find the letters to make ‘jellyfish’—where’s the J?”
   • Encourage the participant to locate and place tiles onto the board or beneath the word card. Offer help if needed but give them space to try.
   • Keep it simple.
