Crossword Connections is a blended word‑recognition game that combines three familiar formats — a completed crossword, letter tiles, and word matching — to help dementia residents engage with language in a low‑stress, meaningful way.

How the Game Works

The game board shows a crossword puzzle with all the words already filled in. 

Alongside the crossword, residents receive Junior‑Scrabble‑style letter tiles. Caregivers invite them to:

• Match a tile to the first letter of a word in the crossword

• Place tiles on top of the printed letters to reinforce recognition

This creates a multi‑sensory experience: visual (letters), tactile (tiles), and cognitive (matching).
